Y Combinator's Little Tech PAC has backed 66 campaign committees
The accelerator's political vehicle is giving to candidates in both parties, according to Inc., ahead of a wider fight over technology policy in Washington.
Y Combinator's Little Tech PAC has funded 66 campaign committees, Inc. reported.
The giving crosses party lines, on Inc.'s account, rather than backing one side.
That is the whole of the disclosed picture so far. The amounts behind each of the 66 committees have not been published, and neither has the split between Democrats and Republicans.
The context Inc. gives is a bigger contest ahead over technology policy in Washington, as Silicon Valley money organises itself for it.
"Little tech" is the framing Y Combinator has used to separate startups from the largest incumbents. A PAC attached to that label is a claim to speak for the smaller end of the industry.
For founders, the relevant question is whose priorities the money carries. Accelerator-backed lobbying is not neutral between a seed-stage company and a late-stage one, and the policy fights that matter most to startups — rules on artificial intelligence, the treatment of acquisitions, the enforceability of non-competes — cut differently at different sizes.
Y Combinator has not set out a public list of the committees or a policy platform tied to the donations.
